Yvonne Gilmore of Christchurch City Council has taken over from Scott Noyes, who announced he would be stepping down at the recent EMANZ AGM.

Yvonne has a long and distinguished career in energy management and efficiency starting in South Africa in 1998. She has been with Christchurch City Council since 2007 analysing how lighting, heating, insulation, ventilation and different building materials impact energy consumption. She is also responsible for procurement and has an outstanding knowledge of the industry and market. She is an accredited Energy Manager Professional.

Commenting on her appointment, Gilmore said: "It’s great to be part of the energy and carbon management community in New Zealand, let alone lead it. This year, EMANZ is celebrating its 25th anniversary and while we’re proud of our history, it’s a privilege to be playing my part in the future of the organisation. We’re in exciting times with the Zero Carbon Bill coming soon and it’s great to be part of the solution to the challenges facing New Zealand businesses and wider community. Scott (Noyes) has done a great job in recent years and should take the credit for kick starting our strategy review."

Scott Noyes, departing Chair, commented: "Yvonne will be a great Chair. She has been on our Board for twelve months now and has been a shining light in helping develop our strategic direction. It’s entirely appropriate she takes over the mantle and leads EMANZ forward. We’ve always tried to bring diversity to our Board and seeing Yvonne take over is a credit to the inclusivity of EMANZ and its members. Christchurch is doing great things in efficiency and sustainability and Yvonne can bring that wider knowledge and experience to help EMANZ. I wish her every success."
